Position Description

The UCLA Department of Public Policy is seeking applications for a part-time instructor for the upcoming Winter quarter 2025 (January through March 2025).

We are in search of candidates to deliver an introductory microeconomics course, Public Policy 204: Principles of Microeconomic Theory II. This course serves as the second part of a mandatory two-course microeconomics sequence for first-year Master's of Public Policy students. No prior knowledge of calculus is required.

Course Topics Include:
- Competitive markets
- Imperfect competition
- Investment
- Asymmetric information
- Insurance

Responsibilities encompass lecturing, conducting office hours, and assessing student performance. A collaborative approach with fellow faculty and department staff is essential.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
A Master's degree or Ph.D. in Economics or a related field is required.

Applicants should possess education, training, professional experience, or other forms of proven expertise in the subject matter to be covered by the course; evidence of experience and success in teaching and presenting relevant material to audiences comparable to students taking the course is necessary.


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in teaching similar courses is preferred.
