Job Summary

The Nursing Float Pool Patient Care Technician reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct patient care and safety observation under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse.
  • Assists patients with personal hygiene, toileting needs, and feeding, and monitors and records vital signs.
  • Transports patients, maintains patient rooms, and performs other general patient care duties as directed.
  • Provides continuous safety observation of patients at risk for injury to themselves or others.
  • Offers comfort measures and addresses emotional needs of patients.
  • Remotely monitors patients via video monitoring and provides verbal redirection and summoning of staff as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Healthcare Provider BLS (CPR) Certification
  • CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) Certification or one year of clinical practicum in a hospital setting
  • CPI Certification within 90 days of hire
  • Proficient computer and technology skills
  • Strong ability to multitask and prioritize workflow
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Physical ability to perform functional requirements
