The Program Director - Dental Hygiene is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the academic quality of the dental hygiene program at Concorde Career Colleges, Inc. This individual will ensure the effective management of faculty and staff, as well as the implementation of accreditation standards and policies.
Key Responsibilities- Set the tone for professionalism and conduct among program staff and students
- Ensure the academic quality of instruction provided to students
- Participate in student, campus, and community activities as required
- Actively engage with the local professional community to promote Concorde and enhance student opportunities
- Recruit, train, and supervise faculty members for the department
- Ensure faculty provide engaging and respectful learning experiences for students
- Participate in and document ongoing faculty and professional development activities
- Adhere to Concorde policies and accreditor standards
- Ensure department safety meets legal and regulatory guidelines
- Conduct and document regular department staff/faculty meetings
- Ensure faculty files are maintained and complete
- Assist with ongoing review and development of program curriculum
- Ensure timely and effective surveys are conducted
- Provide regular performance feedback to faculty
- Advise, coach, and mentor students as needed
- Provide support and supervision to ensure programmatic and institutional completion, licensure, and placement outcomes are met
- Ensure compliance with all requirements of programmatic and institutional accreditors
- Review and ensure accurate and timely course, student, and faculty scheduling
- Assist with and attend graduation as requested
- Teach classes as necessary and permitted by any programmatic accreditor
- Assist with student orientations
- Participate in the budgeting process and supervise procurement
- Review and assist with implementation of the Satisfactory Academic Progress process
- Perform other duties as assigned
This position has supervisory responsibility for all program faculty and staff.
Qualifications- Must have a full-time appointment as defined by the institution, with primary responsibility for operating, supervising, evaluating, and revising the program
- Must have the authority and responsibility necessary to fulfill program goals, including curriculum development, faculty recruitment, assignments, and supervision; input into faculty evaluation; initiation of program or department in-service and faculty development; assessing, planning, and operating program facilities; input into budget preparation and fiscal administration, coordination, evaluation, and participation in determining admission criteria and procedures as well as student promotion and retention criteria
- Must be a dental hygienist who is a graduate of a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and possess a master's or higher degree, OR a dentist who has a background in education and the professional experience necessary to understand and fulfill the program goals
- Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association (required within 30 days of employment)
- Management experience required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge and ability to judge instructors' competence and effectiveness
- This position requires a strong attention to details and a positive, professional attitude
