**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a skilled Medical Billing Specialist to join our team at North Carolina Specialty Hospital. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with all functions associated with billing and third-party payers.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Process daily claims batches and upload them to the claims clearinghouse in a timely manner.
  • Resolve claim edit rejections and escalate unresolved issues to the manager.
  • Resolve Medicare claim rejections and returned-to-provider edits.
  • Process PRC-EBO and PRC BD placement files and ensure balances are placed correctly.
  • Prepare final letter notices for mailing.
  • Work with billing resolution for claims rejecting in the Biller Desktop tool.
  • Identify root causes of non-payment denials and work with insurance companies, patients, and allied healthcare staff to resolve issues.
  • Escalate denials via the payer appeals process and obtain necessary documentation.
  • Contact insurance carriers, patients, or guarantors to follow up on status of delinquent accounts.

**Requirements:**

  • Functional knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Two to three years' experience in patient accounting preferred.
  • CPT Coding Certification preferred.
  • Effective communication skills; both orally and written.
  • Computer skills needed.
