Job Summary:

The Certified Pharmacy Technician II - Medication Specialist provides support to pharmacists by reviewing, compounding, and dispensing medications under their supervision. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the accuracy and quality of medication preparation and delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Compound and prepare medications, including high-risk medication processes, as authorized by a physician under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Deliver and exchange medications to patient areas and return unused medications to the pharmacy.
  • Accurately document pharmaceutical activities, including patient billing and quality control requirements, using automated and paper systems.
  • Respond to customer requests for assistance with pharmacy services, such as medication delivery and drug information.
  • Operate and maintain automated dispensing technology to ensure correct medication supply for individual patients, according to pharmacist and physician orders.
  • Order, receive, restock, and rotate inventory, and manage expiration dates.
  • Assist with training new employees on job-specific functions.
  • Contribute to process improvement projects.
  • Perform regulatory compliance inspections of medication storage areas, including inspections and controlled substance inventories.

Requirements:

  • CPhT certification from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA (unless enrolled in a PharmD program).
  • Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy (unless enrolled in a PharmD program).
  • Prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $17.50-$24.63 per hour, based on experience and internal equity.
