Job Summary

Colorado State University Foundation is seeking a highly skilled Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our General Counsel's office, you will play a critical role in managing and processing realized estate and trust gifts, conducting legal research, and drafting various policies and legal documents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and process realized estate and trust gifts, ensuring compliance with donor intent and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw/Lexis and other databases, including case retrieval and cite checking.
  • Assist the General Counsel in drafting, reviewing, and editing various agreements, policies, and legal documents.
  • Develop and maintain processes for efficient and consistent administration of bequests, including creating and implementing procedures for tracking and processing waivers, releases, and other documents.
  • Provide administrative support to the General Counsel, including scheduling meetings, responding to emails and phone calls, and maintaining department records and files.
  • Collaborate with the HR Manager to administer benefits, assist with recruiting, training, and onboarding, and perform other HR-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or a minimum of two years of experience as a paralegal.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling confidential legal matters.
  • Strong organizational and proofreading skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and ability to communicate legal issues accurately.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, responsible, and responsive with project management skills to own and drive schedules from start to finish.
  • Strong collaborative and problem-solving skills, with ability to work within a diverse team and promote diversity across the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in estate planning and/or probate/trust administration.
  • Experience working with or within a non-profit organization or higher education.
Benefits

Competitive salary range $60,000 - $75,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include health, dental, vision, and group life insurance, sick time, vacation leave, and opportunity to participate in 401(a) and 403(b) retirement plans.
