The Focus Factory Training (D973) is seeking a dedicated and organized Pipefitting Instructor to enhance the strategic sourcing initiatives within the Focus Factories. This role will report to the Strategic Sourcing Training Manager and the relevant on-site training Chief.

As an Instructor, you will be an integral part of a team responsible for delivering training to supplier students across various Pipefitting disciplines, alongside additional related requirements. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and procedural compliance, possess self-motivation, and exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills. A passion for personal and professional development, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a friendly and approachable demeanor, is essential.

Responsibilities & Duties: The responsibilities & duties include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering multiple classroom courses related to welding, including Workmanship, AWPSS, and Safety Briefs.
  • Facilitating and evaluating hands-on training sessions with practical exercises and assessments.
  • Upholding safety protocols during training sessions and conducting deck plate audits.
  • Evaluating student performance and identifying any deviations from established policies, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Assisting in the review of course content and related activities.
  • Conducting scheduled assessments.
  • Managing class rosters and overseeing training OQE submittal documentation.
  • Engaging with Focus Factory Leadership regarding student performance as necessary.
  • Consistently grading tests and quizzes to ensure comprehension of training materials.
  • Collaborating with other Training team members to facilitate workflow and address issues.
  • Supporting special training initiatives as required.
  • Contributing to the Training department's goals and objectives through additional assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 4 years of trade experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience within Electric Boat.
  • Willingness to engage in business travel up to 70%.

Preferred:

  • Advanced educational coursework, including certifications or an associate's degree.
  • Experience in instructing or teaching.
  • Leadership experience in roles such as working leader, MDU, SS, etc.
  • Familiarity with non-destructive testing, AWPSS, and SRT.
  • Proficiency in communication and virtual technologies.

  • Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex assignments.
  • Proven leadership and direction skills in both classroom and workshop settings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, complemented by strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to meet and maintain NDT requirements for Welding Qualifications.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to navigate throughout the facility and units as required.
