The Focus Factory Training (D973) is seeking a dedicated and organized Pipefitting Instructor to enhance the strategic sourcing initiatives within the Focus Factories. This role will report to the Strategic Sourcing Training Manager and collaborate closely with the on-site training Chief.

The Instructor will be an integral part of a team responsible for delivering training to supplier students across various Pipefitting courses and related competencies. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and procedural compliance, possess self-motivation, and exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills. A passion for personal and professional development, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a friendly and approachable demeanor, is essential.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Delivering multiple classroom courses related to welding, including Workmanship, AWPSS, and Safety Briefs.
  • Facilitating hands-on training sessions with practical assessments and evaluations.
  • Upholding safety protocols during training and conducting deck plate audits.
  • Evaluating student performance and identifying deviations from established policies and technical documentation.
  • Assisting in the review of course content and related activities.
  • Conducting scheduled assessments.
  • Managing class rosters and submitting training documentation.
  • Engaging with Focus Factory Leadership regarding student performance as necessary.
  • Consistently grading assessments to ensure comprehension of training material.
  • Collaborating with fellow Training team members to address issues and advance initiatives.
  • Supporting special training projects as required.
  • Contributing to the Training department's goals and objectives through additional assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 4 years of trade experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience at Electric Boat.
  • Willingness to engage in business travel up to 70%.

Preferred:

  • Advanced educational coursework, including certifications or an associate's degree.
  • Experience in instructing or teaching.
  • Leadership experience in roles such as working leader or MDU.
  • Familiarity with non-destructive testing, AWPSS, and SRT.
  • Proficiency in communication and virtual technologies.

Skills:

  • Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex assignments.
  • Proficient in leading and directing in both classroom and workshop settings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to teaching and leading student classes.
