About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at General Dynamics Electric Boat. As a Quality Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality standards are met in our manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform inspection duties throughout the facility, verifying attributes for welds, structures, and components.
  • Work collaboratively with the quality control team to meet company and organizational goals.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of quality control systems, Electric Boat procedures, and quality department instructions.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge in inspection disciplines such as Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, Pre-Test, Electrical, Mechanical, and others.
  • Embodiment of Electric Boat's Core Values, including working safely, being responsible for oneself and others, and maintaining a high level of integrity and purpose.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain an MT, PT, or ET certification.
  • Ability to attain a key department qualification/certification within the first six months after starting as a Quality Inspector.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Basic mathematical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work all shifts, extended week days, and weekends as required.
  • Ability to work at heights, in tightly confined spaces, and in extreme weather conditions.
  • Accurate documentation, record keeping, and archiving skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Inspection/quality assurance experience.
  • Mechanical and Electrical experience.
  • Pipe hanger installation experience.
  • Structural experience.
  • NACE Certified.
  • Knowledge of shipboard assemblies, installations, components, and structures.
  • Metal fabrication experience.
  • Military shipbuilding experience.
  • Vocational, Technical, and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs.
  • Related military/Navy experience.
