We are seeking a highly qualified Instructor to join our team at Guilford Technical Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and developing courses in Central Sterilization and Supply Chain Management, as well as providing academic and professional guidance to students.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching and Curriculum Development
- Develop and teach courses in Central Sterilization and Supply Chain Management, including lesson plans and instructional materials.
- Employ effective teaching strategies and technologies to engage students and promote learning.
- Create a learner-centered environment that supports diverse student populations.
- Professional Development
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain currency in the field and advance teaching skills.
- Stay current with industry developments and best practices in Central Sterilization and Supply Chain Management.
- Administrative and Support Functions
- Provide daily and ongoing oversight of facilities, equipment, and student records.
- Maintain classroom and laboratory spaces, including equipment and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with college, state, and federal regulations.
- Student Support and Retention
- Provide academic and professional guidance to students, including referrals to campus and community resources.
- Conduct recruiting activities and promote student retention and persistence.
- Education
- Associate degree in a health-related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
- Current certification as a Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) issued by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Inc.
- Experience
- Two years of experience with administrative and clinical procedures routinely performed by Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technicians.
- Post-secondary teaching and/or industry training experience in a health-related field.
- Skills and Abilities
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing procedures and protocols.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create and maintain a learner-centered environment.
- Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a health-related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
- Experience
- Greater than two years of experience with administrative and clinical procedures routinely performed by Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technicians.
- Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Experience in a community college setting.
- Mandatory Trainings
- GTCC Trainings (upon initial hire) and annual updates as required.
- Departmental Requirements
- Bloodborne pathogen/personal protective equipment.
- Emergency action plan and use of emergency equipment.
- Documented negative TB test, current annual flu vaccine, CPR, and other immunizations (if required by affiliated clinical agencies).
- Physical Abilities
- Hear and see.
- Lift, push, or pull 50 lbs.
- Standing required for extended periods (up to 4 hours).
- Stoop, bend, squat, lift, reach overhead.
