Job Summary

The Pueblo CO Ophthalmology ASC, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by maintaining a clean and sterile environment for surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and organized central processing area, including shelves, counters, and equipment.
  • Ensure clean and dirty workspaces are clearly identified and separated.
  • Adhere to sterilization process policies and procedures.
  • Reprocess instruments according to industry standards and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Inspect instruments under magnification for damage and defects.
  • Lubricate items as required.
  • Determine whether each item is in good working condition.
  • Sort and arrange items into proper trays according to established policy.
  • Wrap trays and individual items according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • Mix cleaning solutions per manufacturer's instructions.
  • Accurately label each item with name and sterilization date.
  • Operate sterilizers, ultrasonic washer, and other processing equipment correctly.
  • Check equipment indicators for proper functioning.
  • Perform biological/chemical monitoring tests on sterilizers and maintain logs.
  • Understand the appropriate response for failed Bowie Dick, Sterilization cycle, and/or Biological or Chemical indicator.
  • Transport instruments to processing room in closed containers marked as biohazardous.
  • Maintain inventory levels and accurate records.
  • Check for outdated items and package integrity of wrapped sterilized items.
  • Place items in correct location.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies for sterile processing area.
  • Maintain/updates instrument tray inventory list.
  • Accurately document count of instruments loaned/returned to outside sources.
Requirements
  • Certification required (IAHCSMM and/or CBSPD).
  • 2-3 years previous experience working as Certified Sterile Processing Technician.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Knowledge of operating room instrumentation and equipment.
  • Familiarity with sterile areas, including use of PPE.
  • Organized in setting up operating room instrument trays.
  • Understanding of operation of gravity sterilizers.
  • Maintain sterilization logs.
  • Assist with inventory of surgical supplies and instruments.
  • Able to lift trays up to 25 lbs.
  • Assist with managing inventory.
Education
  • High School Diploma required.
