Department Summary:

This role is responsible for consolidating project financial data at the funding envelope level, reviewing and challenging monthly project forecasts, and identifying spending trends and themes.


The Senior Financial Analyst is tasked with planning, forecasting, reporting, and providing financial analysis support for designated business lines and/or at the overall segment level under the supervision of financial management.

Additionally, the Senior Financial Analyst offers specialized financial consulting and analytical support at the assigned business lines or total segment level, pinpointing key financial trends, measuring performance metrics, setting financial targets, evaluating capital budgets, analyzing product profitability, and providing specialized reporting for unique projects.


Scope of Responsibilities:
Manages the finance processes relevant to their area of responsibility

Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the finance function and key business areas supported

May involve the integration of 1-2 functions and/or business lines

Focuses on complex and specialized analyses over a yearly timeframe

Leads unit activities, assigning, prioritizing, and monitoring work

Provides training and mentorship for new and less experienced staff

Delivers financial, analytical, planning, and forecasting expertise to aid in project development and completion

Creates specialized analytical tools for ongoing or project-specific use

May oversee the development of conclusions and actions to address discrepancies, as well as analyses for management decision-making

Offers planning, forecasting, and financial analysis support

Develops and assesses key metrics and plan variances

Conducts cost and product analyses

Creates performance and predictive data analyses

Generates ad-hoc analytical reports

Designs financial analytical and forecasting models to test assumptions and predict business initiative outcomes

Leads additional research efforts, applying financial analysis expertise

Investigates and reviews business operating metrics, actively seeking to identify and promote new opportunities or products

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent progressive work experience

7+ years of relevant experience

Knowledge of accounting principles, including FASB and GAAP regulations, particularly in assigned business lines

Curiosity and attention to detail with a willingness to investigate business lines/accounts

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Proactive in obtaining necessary information and influencing others tactfully without direct authority

Relationship management skills, capable of developing strong client relationships

Effective communication skills, able to clearly present and explain numerical data and required accounting treatments

Proficient in PC skills, including knowledge of accounting software applications

Adept at analyzing non-routine transactions requiring judgment
