Job Title: Senior Technologist, Systems Design Engineering

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technologist to join our Systems Design Engineering team at Western Digital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the development of next-generation solid-state products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver subsystem specifications and test objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to navigate technical challenges and identify optimal solutions.
  • Build and lead a small team to support the development and bring-up of next-generation products from a systems engineering perspective.
  • Understand customer specifications and drive design changes to meet them.
  • Align the development and validation process with cross-functional teams.
  • Create internal and external specifications, stay current with technology trends and roadmaps.
  • Mentor engineers inside and outside the team.
  • Apply critical thinking to the results/data of competitive analysis and provide guidance for product development.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless product development.
Requirements:
  • Proven track record of delivering complex projects.
  • Experience with scripting automation using Python.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a global team in multiple geographies.
  • B.Sc. in Computer Science or Software / Computer / Electrical Engineering, cum laude.
  • At least 15 years of experience in RT / embedded systems architecture.
  • Multi-disciplinary experience, including familiarity with Firmware, HW, and ASIC design.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of PCIe Gen5/6 technology.
  • Previous experience with storage systems, protocols, and NAND flash.
  • Previous patent filing.
