Position Overview

The Associate Attorney (Bilingual Spanish / English) position is a full-time opportunity at Cole Law Group. The successful candidate will be tasked with providing legal counsel to clients, performing legal research, negotiating, and drafting legal documents, among other related responsibilities. Candidates are encouraged to submit a cover letter, resume, and a sample of legal writing.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Spanish (both written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Law school GPA of 3.0 or higher and/or ranking in the top 30% of the class.
  • Familiarity with the Clio practice management software.
  • Strong skills in legal research, particularly using Lexis.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated interest in litigation through relevant work experience or involvement in Moot Court, Trial Advocacy, or Law Journal.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice law in Tennessee or the ability to obtain it within nine months of hire.
  • Able to thrive in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Competency in Office 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat Professional, especially for bates stamping.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting senior attorneys with trial and hearing preparations.
  • Drafting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and memoranda.
  • Managing discovery requests and responses.
  • Overseeing deadlines for individual cases.
  • Communicating with other law firms, clerks, and chambers regarding depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Attending procedural and administrative hearings.
  • Providing translation services between Spanish and English for team members as needed.
