Job Summary

As a key member of the Waste Management team, the Operations Manager - Welding and Container Maintenance will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the container shop, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the container shop, including inventory management, repairs, deliveries, and distribution.
  • Oversee the staffing and scheduling of container shop personnel, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Ensure that all containers are in good repair, both structurally and aesthetically, to maintain the company's image.
  • Assure that container supply meets customer demand, while also ensuring that all operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Comply with and ensure adherence to Waste Management's Mission to Zero standards and regulations.
  • Effectively interact and work with other managers and supervisors to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective operation of the container shop.
  • Assist in the budget process as required.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the container shop(s) through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Oversee personnel needs for all container shop personnel, including selecting, coaching, disciplining, and training employees, as well as evaluating employee performance.
  • Provide input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
  • Update and submit required reports in a timely manner.
  • Conduct customer site visits and surveys, and may perform repairs on customer premises as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities

The Operations Manager - Welding and Container Maintenance will be responsible for the direct supervision of approximately 11 full-time employees, including 9 welders and 2 tote washers.

QualificationsEducation and Experience

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, and at least 7 years of relevant work experience.

No specific certifications or licenses are required for this role.

Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

The Operations Manager - Welding and Container Maintenance should possess excellent leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

The Operations Manager - Welding and Container Maintenance will work in a normal office setting and/or landfill/outdoor environment.
