Position Overview:


A Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is actively seeking a seasoned finance leader to assume the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This pivotal position entails the oversight and management of budgeting, auditing, taxation, accounting, procurement, revenue cycles, long-term forecasting, and insurance functions within the organization.

The CFO will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial vitality of the organization, collaborating with the Board of Directors to define and execute the corporation's mission in alignment with the evolving needs of the community.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with the Board of Directors to discuss current trends, challenges, and activities in the healthcare sector, aiding in governance and policy formulation.
  • Direct the annual and long-term financial planning and budget management processes.
  • Maximize returns on financial assets by establishing robust financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.

Mountain Community Health (MCH) is dedicated to delivering comprehensive preventative and primary medical and dental care to individuals of all ages, irrespective of their insurance status or financial capability. MCH serves the Five Town area in Addison County, Vermont, emphasizing a commitment to patient care through a team of skilled professionals.


Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive financial management experience, including at least 4 years in senior financial leadership roles within complex nonprofit organizations.
  • Experience in managing staff across payroll, accounts payable, general ledger entries, grant vouchering, and procurement.
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required; a CPA or a master's degree in business administration or finance is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the healthcare sector or with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC), along with knowledge of federal, state, and local grants.
  • Proficient in accounting software, preferably QuickBooks.
  • Demonstrated ability to devise and implement financial strategies while managing financial operations effectively.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Drive strategic growth by monitoring economic conditions, industry standards, and market trends.
  • Establish and enforce financial standards, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Stay informed on federal, state, and local requirements, advising management on necessary actions to ensure legal compliance.
  • Ensure all financial data is recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other applicable standards.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reports and decision-support information to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Identify opportunities for financial performance enhancement and implement cost-effective solutions.
  • Manage cash and investment assets to maximize returns while minimizing risks.
  • Collaborate with community partners to further the mission of MCH.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and innovative technologies to improve financial operations.
  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, onboarding, and ongoing management of financial personnel.
  • Direct the preparation of all financial statements and maintain financial dashboards.
  • Facilitate annual audits and ensure compliance with Single Audit requirements for grants.
  • Analyze compensation policies and develop competitive compensation plans.
