Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Law Enforcement Officer to join our team at the Wayne County Government. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, enforcing laws and regulations, and providing public safety services to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Law Enforcement: Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect crime, enforce laws and regulations, and respond to emergency calls.
  • Community Policing: Build relationships with the community, provide public education and outreach, and engage in community-based initiatives to promote public safety.
  • Investigations: Conduct investigations into crimes and incidents, gather evidence, and prepare reports.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations, provide first aid and medical assistance, and coordinate with other emergency services as needed.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of incidents, arrests, and other law enforcement activities.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Prior law enforcement experience preferred; ability to learn and adapt to new situations and technologies.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications.
  • Certifications: Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and completion of a police officer training program.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in a variety of settings, including patrol vehicles, police stations, and community areas. May be required to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. May be exposed to hazardous situations and physical demands of law enforcement work.
