Role Overview: The Youth Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the initiatives of The Salvation Army's Family Activity Center. This position is focused on being a constructive role model for youth, ranging from kindergarten to high school seniors, through engaging interactions, structured activities, educational support, and sports. The Coordinator is responsible for maintaining appropriate child-to-adult ratios and ensuring a safe, nurturing, and encouraging environment for all participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Youth Director in strategic planning related to program development, philosophy, and objectives.
  • Prepare and communicate monthly, weekly, and daily activity plans to the Director and fellow team members.
  • Implement programs that cater to the emotional, physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual needs of the youth.
  • Foster an environment that ensures each child has a rewarding experience at the center.
  • Show respect and dignity to all children, recognizing and valuing individual differences.
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere that provides individualized attention and timely support for children in distress.
  • Understand and comply with Youth Center policies, health and safety standards, and emergency protocols, demonstrating the ability to apply these guidelines effectively.
  • Support volunteer assistants in maintaining a professional demeanor towards the program, children, and staff, offering assistance with communication and program implementation as needed.
  • Exemplify professionalism at all times.
  • Plan, prepare, and maintain the environment where activities are conducted.
  • Engage in ongoing training and staff meetings to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain strong connections with the community and families to promote understanding of the Youth Center's programs.
  • Driving responsibilities are a key component of this role.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Duties: This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
