Position Summary

The District Operations Supervisor is accountable for the effective management of 13 store locations within the designated area. Key responsibilities encompass workforce planning, recruitment, training, coaching, and the development of store managers, alongside ensuring the retention of team members to meet the district's financial objectives. This role involves establishing accountability and expectations in alignment with company standards, policies, and procedures, while fostering an environment conducive to achieving both organizational and individual goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Empower Store Managers to become leaders of cultural transformation, delivering a consistently exceptional customer experience.
  • Ensure that all locations within the district are staffed according to company workforce planning standards, aligning staffing levels with demand.
  • Oversee the hiring, training, and development of all store management personnel, while minimizing turnover rates.
  • Guide and mentor Store Managers and Manager trainees on operational procedures, sales strategies, product knowledge, and service techniques.
  • Manage budgetary and capital expenditures to surpass financial objectives.
  • Optimize district profitability by managing budgets effectively and devising recovery plans as necessary.
  • Conduct regular store visits (at least once per quarter for each location), documenting findings and communicating follow-up actions to Store Managers.
  • Ensure compliance with all required documentation, processing, reporting, safety regulations, and company standards across the district.
  • Train and monitor adherence to company safety and security protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Engage professionally with Store Support Center colleagues, including Executive Management, Marketing, Accounting, Payroll, Human Resources, and other departments as needed.
  • Stay informed about local market competitors, industry trends, and new developments.
  • Manage district inventory in accordance with established company standards and policies.
  • Complete all required training at Monro University within the specified guidelines and timelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Management Scope:

The District Operations Supervisor holds leadership responsibility for the operations of 10 stores within the assigned district, directly supervising Store Managers. This position operates under the general guidance of the Zone Manager.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business is advantageous) with a minimum of 5 years of management experience.
- Previous management experience in a multi-unit retail environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience in the tire or automotive sector is a plus.

Knowledge & Skills:
- Self-aware, servant leader with proven experience managing a team of 10 or more employees, including responsibilities for interviewing, hiring, training, counseling, and termination.
- Demonstrated experience in performance management, including coaching, setting expectations, conducting performance reviews, managing disciplinary actions, and holding team members accountable for results.
- Strong motivator and role model with the ability to proactively identify issues and provide effective solutions; capable of addressing problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
- Proven sales practitioner with the ability to train others in successful sales techniques and strategies.
- Excellent communicator, able to convey ideas, concepts, and initiatives clearly, connecting disparate data points into a cohesive message.
- Proficient in reading, interpreting, and communicating business and financial documents regularly.
- Ability to analyze and calculate figures such as financial reports, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; capable of applying basic algebra concepts.
- Ability to apply common sense to communication and execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and capable of learning new and existing company-specific software applications.
- Demonstrated experience managing a P&L and familiarity with key line item management to influence results.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
  • This role operates in an office setting with exposure to an automotive retail environment, encountering moderate noise levels, adverse weather conditions, chemicals, odors, dirt, and dust. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and fax machines will be utilized.
  • A valid driver's license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) are required.
  • Flexibility to work various hours/days, including evenings and weekends, with additional hours as needed based on business demands.
  • Ability to work with hands overhead, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.; frequent reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, and pushing are necessary.
  • Frequent travel within the assigned district is expected.
