Position Overview

The role is centered around ensuring safety and compliance within the transportation sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all facets of DOT and OSHA safety regulations for designated facilities.
  • Serve as the regulatory expert on FMCSA, Canada MOT, and OSHA standards, providing guidance to team members.
  • Conduct regular visits to various locations for training, safety assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Organize and lead safety meetings, and perform equipment inspections as required.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to support claims processing and risk management.
  • Be available for emergency situations outside of regular hours, ensuring proper response and investigation.
  • Track and analyze accident data to identify trends and implement corrective measures.
  • Utilize the Samsara eLog system to ensure compliance and monitor daily reports.
  • Review DriveCam footage to identify training needs for drivers and address safety concerns.
  • Utilize SaferSys, CSA, and Vigillo to monitor driver performance and compliance.
  • Collaborate with insurance representatives on loss control initiatives.
  • Participate in compliance audits as necessary.
  • Maintain a valid driving record for company vehicle operation.
  • Prepare reports and presentations using MS Office tools for various purposes.
  • Conduct site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Assist in the launch of new operational lanes or facilities as required.
  • Engage in company meetings and external training sessions as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned based on business needs.

Qualifications:

A degree or relevant experience in safety management within the transportation industry is required. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential. Must be willing to travel as necessary, including potential trips to Canada. Flexibility to work non-standard hours is important. Previous experience with a CDL is advantageous.
