Position Overview
Peterson Trucks is seeking a Heavy Vehicle Maintenance Trainee.
ROLE SUMMARY
This role involves executing quality repairs and servicing on all Heavy Trucks and Diesel Engines following manufacturer guidelines or accepted industry standards, primarily in the field for customer service and equipment maintenance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following outlines essential functions for this position, but does not limit the tasks that may be assigned. Management may allocate or reassign responsibilities at any time for reasonable accommodation or other reasons. Job functions include:
- Ensure a safe working environment and adhere to all safety protocols, regulations, and policies.
- Operate in accordance with Contamination Control Guidelines.
- Engage with internal and external clients in a manner that fosters positive relationships.
- Under the guidance of a seasoned Technician, carry out the following tasks:
- Conduct a variety of repairs, maintenance, installations, replacements, preventative maintenance, and diagnostic tasks for diverse makes and models of on-highway truck engines and chassis efficiently, accurately, and safely, adhering to all company policies.
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections.
- Execute emergency roadside repairs, occasionally after hours; carry, monitor, and respond to company-issued mobile devices for after-hours service requests.
- Carry out pre-delivery setups and installations on all makes and models of on-highway truck engines, trucks, and related equipment.
- Work within established flat rate and warranty time guidelines.
- Document service reports that accurately reflect activities.
- Prepare necessary documentation including work orders, parts lists, and time cards accurately and promptly to facilitate other employees' tasks.
- Operate and maintain the Field Service Truck in a professional, clean, and safe manner.
- Complete assigned tasks in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
- Follow manufacturer and company service protocols to ensure quality work and preserve component failure information for accurate analysis.
- Work overtime as required within labor law parameters.
- Operate company or personal vehicles as necessary.
- Maintain consistent, regular, and predictable attendance.
Associate's Degree from an accredited college or technical/vocational institution in Diesel Technology or a closely related field; and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a heavy truck or fleet dealership environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of A/C systems, brake systems, emission systems, air systems, and diagnostics/troubleshooting of diesel engines is essential. A proven record of excellent customer service skills is required. Experience with international manufacturers is preferred.
The minimum pay rate for this position is: $33.05 (Starting wage will depend on experience and education. We also offer a total compensation package in addition to base salary.)
