As a Talent Development Specialist at National Steel and Shipbuilding Company, you will play a crucial role in designing and facilitating courses in leadership development. Your expertise will be utilized to monitor and report the effectiveness of training, and you will work closely with master trainers and instructional designers to develop programs that meet the needs of our organization.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct training needs analyses and formulate strategies to meet identified needs and corporate objectives.
• Prepare course objectives, outlines, lesson plans, handouts, and other instructional materials.
• Lead and facilitate leadership training classes to ensure effective utilization of students' time.
• Manage logistics for leadership development programs and activities, including venues and equipment.
• Interface with other department members to ensure comprehensive and timely responses to training issues.
• Coordinate training functions with supervisors and assist in establishing and assigning training schedules.
• Evaluate business initiatives to determine the appropriate development interventions needed to meet organizational goals.
• Coordinate with various business units, vendors, and consultants to research and identify materials needed for training course development and implementation.
• Maintain lines of communication across the organization to encourage the flow of information needed to keep courses current.
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, I/O Psychology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two (2) years of instructor-led facilitation experience.
• Project management skills required.
Additional Functions
• Demonstrate excellent presentation skills and ability to effectively deliver course material to all levels within the organization.
• May lead the work of others within the department.
• Act as an internal expert on development issues in coordination with employee and labor relations.
• Ensure equipment is functioning properly and training facilities are maintained in an orderly and professional manner.
• Perform a variety of complicated tasks related to assigned areas of expertise.
• Cross-train to teach other training courses as needed.
• Strong attention to detail.
Physical Demands
Work primarily conducted in an office setting with good lighting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing. Must be physically able to commute to buildings throughout the shipyard. Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, and moderate levels of noise.
Pay Scale
$82,800 - $115,700
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education. General Dynamics NASSCO also provides a variety of benefits, including medical and dental insurance coverage, 401(k) retirement savings plan, flexible spending accounts/HSAs, life and disability insurance, company-paid holidays and paid time off (PTO), wellness coaching, and an onsite health services.
