Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Antibody Design Lead to join our team at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. As a key member of our Microbiology/Immunology group, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of antibody drug products from concept to transition to commercial partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Antibody Drug Product Development: Coordinate and lead subject matter experts to explore technical feasibility and strategic aims of potential new antibody products, working with teams responsible for computational antibody design and antibody production and characterization.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work with R&D teams on new assay development and laboratory technologies, as well as external partners providing reagents, assays, and/or protein production capabilities.
  • Develop Product Development Strategies: Define and track complex multi-year project plans, timelines, and budgets, working with project managers to ensure successful product development.
  • Prepare Scientific Reports: Summarize results from complex research activities performed onsite and with partner organizations.
  • Oversee Recombinant Mammalian and Bacterial Protein Expression and Purification: Work with laboratory directors to ensure efficient and effective protein expression and purification processes.
  • Interface with Computational Teams: Collaborate with computational teams performing computational design and development of antibody products.
  • Develop and Maintain Relationships with External Partners and Collaborators: Establish and maintain relationships with external partners and collaborators to ensure successful product development.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Trends and Advancements: Stay current with industry trends and advancements in antibody technology to ensure the development of innovative and effective antibody products.
Additional Responsibilities at the SES.5 Level
  • Anticipate Project Shortcomings and Develop Solutions: Anticipate project shortcomings and direct resources to develop effective solutions to improve efficiency in key areas relevant to antibody design and discovery.
  • Initiate and/or Lead Collaborative Projects: Initiate and/or lead collaborative projects requiring involvement of the broader scientific community external to LLNL.
  • Lead Multi-Location Research Teams: Lead multi-location research teams, summarizing research results in peer-reviewed journals.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or Related Field: Equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Highly Advanced Experience in Antibody Product Development: Experience in antibody generation and development, biomarker development, assay design, and antibody purification.
  • Substantial Knowledge of Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, and Biotechnology: Expertise in laboratory management, including molecular biology and cell biology.
  • Expert Leadership, Communication, and Project Management Skills: Significant experience developing and managing workflows for high-throughput antibody production and screening platforms.
  • Significant Experience with Regulatory Submissions and Compliance: Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and developing successful product development strategies.
  • Expertise in Library Display Technologies for High-Throughput Screening: Extensive experience with additional protein purification and characterization techniques.
  • Experience Developing and Managing Workflows for Large-Scale Antibody Production: Experience with automated workflows and automation platforms.
