Division Overview

The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine at the Children's Hospital of Richmond (CHOR) at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is a premier academic division dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of pediatric pulmonary diseases. As a leader in the field, we are seeking a talented and experienced physician to serve as the next Division Chief.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of 8 physician pulmonologists and sleep medicine physicians, providing mentorship and career development, developing successful outreach and regional programs, sustaining a nationally recognized research program, and fostering a culture of excellence in teaching and clinical care. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leadership, research, and clinical expertise, as well as a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must have a strong background in pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine, with a proven track record of leadership and research. A medical degree, residency training in pediatrics, fellowship training in pediatric pulmonary medicine, and board certification in pediatric pulmonology are required. The ideal candidate will also have experience working in a diverse environment and a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence in teaching and clinical care.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level, a track record of external funding, administrative experience, and experience successfully mentoring junior colleagues and trainees are highly desirable. The successful candidate will also have a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, as well as a passion for leading a team of talented professionals.
