Job Summary

The Deputy Director of Water and Wastewater Utilities is a key leadership position responsible for assisting in the overall operation and maintenance of the Public Utilities. This includes planning and execution of the City's water & wastewater treatment facilities, water distribution system, sanitary sewer collection system, water and sewer rehabilitation, upgrade and expansion programs, inflow and infiltration prevention program, and reclaimed water program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with Federal and local regulatory agencies, State FDOT, SSNOCWTA, and neighboring municipalities.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the department.
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring the department budget.
  • Make procedural and operational recommendations.
  • Prepare written technical reports, estimates, construction and cost records.
  • Supervise, direct, plan, and coordinate all divisions and their personnel within the department.
  • Attend and participate in conferences and meetings as related to Public Utilities.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or industrial engineering or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of eight years of experience in the construction and maintenance of sanitary or storm sewers, water distribution, water and wastewater treatment facilities, with at least three years of managerial or supervisory experience.

A master's degree in a related field is preferred, and a Professional Engineering Certificate is highly desirable.

The candidate must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License, Class E or higher.
