Parks Maintenance Technician

Compensation:
This role offers a starting wage of $16.63 per hour, with potential variations based on qualifications and experience.
Typical working hours are Monday to Thursday from 6 AM to 3 PM, with Friday hours from 6 AM to 10 AM. Some weekend and evening shifts may be required on a rotating basis.

Position Summary:
This position is essential for supporting the daily operations, upkeep, and programs within the Parks Division of the Parks and Recreation Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to safety protocols; identify and rectify minor safety issues; conduct all activities in a safe manner.
- Manage litter control across park areas, including the emptying of large trash receptacles.
- Operate various vehicles and machinery effectively in the execution of tasks.
- Utilize mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and other equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct inspections to ensure public facility safety; identify potential hazards or injury risks; perform necessary maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for all equipment.
- Assist in snow and debris removal following adverse weather conditions.
- Engage in special projects as assigned.
- Prepare and clean park shelters prior to rentals; ensure cleanliness and safety of tables and benches.
- Oversee the maintenance of the band shell, ensuring compliance with safety and electrical standards.
- Support the upkeep of spray park and pool equipment as required; perform necessary services on pools and spray parks.
- Facilitate the movement of materials and related items for community events.
- Ensure restroom facilities in all parks are stocked, safe, sanitary, and free from graffiti and debris.
- Assist with mowing and landscaping tasks at parks and other public facilities as directed.
Experience:
This is an entry-level position; prior experience is not mandatory. The employee is expected to gain the necessary knowledge and skills to perform satisfactorily within six months.
