Position Overview:
The immediate opening is within the Department of Transportation, specifically in the Highways Division.

Compensation:
$4,690 to $5,713 per month (SR-20, Step D to I)

The position is situated in the Accounting Systems and Procedures Section, Staff Services Office, within the Highways Division of the Department of Transportation.

The role entails conducting thorough analyses and contributing to the development, execution, and upkeep of the Highways accounting system, ensuring alignment with fiscal control, recordkeeping, reporting requirements, and statewide accounting standards. Additionally, the role involves participating in the creation, revision, and maintenance of the accounting and procedures manual for the Highways accounting system.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Engage in the assessment and classification of financial data for budgeting and management purposes.
2. Conduct investigative studies to evaluate and analyze the financial and reporting needs across various management levels.
3. Analyze accounting and financial reporting requirements.
4. Prepare system documentation, including operational procedures.
5. Facilitate user training sessions.

Qualifications:
Education:

A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year institution, including at least twelve semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing.


Professional Accounting Experience:

A minimum of one and a half years of progressively responsible professional accounting or auditing experience, which may include teaching accounting at the university level.


Systems Accounting Experience:
At least one year of experience in systems accounting, which may include:
A. Participation as a team member in the development and/or implementation of an integrated accounting system or involvement in significant analysis of existing accounting procedures and operations, leading to the development and/or implementation of changes for an integrated system; or
B. Experience that includes responsibility for or involvement in the maintenance and control of an accounting system through the analysis and resolution of accounting issues via systems enhancements and modifications, providing guidance to operations or fund control accountants regarding the system, or establishing subsystems.
