Position Overview

Kids Above All is in search of dedicated Youth Care Workers for our residential facilities. This is a full-time role that includes comprehensive benefits. You will be assigned to one of our group homes.

Role Summary: As a Youth Care Worker, your primary responsibility will be to address the physical and emotional needs of adolescent residents in a group home environment. You will collaborate with the Group Home Team to ensure the safety and appropriate supervision of all residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and supervise recreational and leisure activities both within the Group Home and in the community, assisting in the organization and execution of therapeutic activities for assigned residents.
  • Consult with the Group Home Supervisor prior to making significant decisions regarding a resident's care.
  • Implement and uphold policies, rules, and licensing standards consistently.
  • Manage funds allocated for client services responsibly.
  • Make informed decisions regarding residents' activities and behaviors, ensuring knowledge of each resident's whereabouts at all times.
  • Follow medication guidelines and notify management of any medical needs.
  • Teach and assist residents in essential life skills, including room maintenance, personal hygiene, and meal preparation.
  • Conduct necessary data entry and maintain accurate records for daily logs and resident files.
  • Ensure the privacy and security of residents and staff by controlling visitor access and telephone use.
  • Facilitate resident intakes and discharges, ensuring all documentation is completed.
  • Engage in individual supervision sessions with the Supervisor.
  • May serve as a mentor for new Youth Care Workers.
  • Maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Participate in ongoing training, staff meetings, and fulfill all Agency and/or DCFS requirements.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
  • An acceptable driving record is necessary.
  • Possession of an insured working vehicle is required.
  • Comfortable working with youth aged 12-18.
  • Excellent organizational and decision-making skills are essential, along with flexibility to work weekends and evenings.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with the adolescent population is required.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word are necessary.
  • Residency in Illinois is required, as this is an in-person position.

Work Schedule: The full-time shifts are from 7 AM to 3 PM and 3 PM to 11 PM, with varying schedules to promote work-life balance.

Flexibility is required for weekends and holidays.

Compensation Range: Hourly rates for Bachelor's degree holders range from $20.00 to $22.00, while those with a High School diploma earn between $19.50 and $21.50. Shift differentials are also available.
