The Role You Will Undertake (including but not limited to):


The Lab Technician is an integral part of the Environmental, Health and Safety Group, reporting directly to the Environmental Manager.


This position entails conducting laboratory tests for mill operations, performing environmental compliance assessments, managing testing supplies and equipment, and analyzing results to pinpoint issues and suggest enhancements.


The role necessitates familiarity with standard laboratory testing procedures, executing field sampling, calculating test outcomes, ensuring accuracy of results, and promptly communicating findings to relevant personnel with minimal supervision.


Additional Responsibilities May Include:

  • Independently conducting non-routine experiments and laboratory tasks
  • Assisting with mill trials
  • Composing technical reports summarizing findings, conclusions, and recommendations
  • Aiding in the training of fellow technicians
  • Identifying and spearheading constructive changes within the work area
  • Analyzing data trends through graphs and correlations with process knowledge
  • Completing river studies


The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and be capable of collaborating with all mill personnel to foster a safe working environment.

The individual will demonstrate proficient written and verbal communication skills.


Under the guidance of the Environmental Manager, the successful candidate will collaborate with mill management to establish specific objectives aimed at enhancing mill performance in the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHS&S) domain.


Essential Skills:

  • Technical degree or equivalent field of study required
  • Experience in an environmental laboratory preferred
  • Willingness to obtain a boat operator's license within 60 days of employment
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays as required
  • Experience in a paper manufacturing environment is highly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft and SAP Applications
  • Eager learner with the ability to develop direct reports
  • Self-driven and goal-oriented team player
