Position Overview
As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist, you will engage in both urgent and routine laboratory analyses across various technical domains, adhering to the guidelines set forth by a Laboratory Supervisor, Manager, or Director. Your role will involve executing tasks in accordance with established protocols and regulatory standards while applying your expertise in laboratory medicine to guarantee prompt and precise outcomes. You will be responsible for maintaining your professional credentials and competencies, while also managing regulatory schedules in the Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology divisions of the laboratory. Additionally, you will undertake non-technical responsibilities such as specimen collection, processing, and referral testing as necessary. Ultimately, your contributions will support the department in meeting its objectives related to service quality, regulatory adherence, financial efficiency, patient satisfaction, and fostering a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve proficiency in information system functionalities relevant to your role.
- Exhibit accountability and responsibility in delivering accurate and timely laboratory testing.
- Maintain an organized workflow, ensuring that procedures are documented for ease of reference by colleagues.
- Analyze proficiency testing samples in accordance with guidelines and complete them within designated timeframes.
- Assume departmental responsibilities as needed in the absence of supervisory personnel.
- Consistently complete all necessary documentation related to patient results.
- Execute urgent procedures within established turnaround time targets.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and independent thinking in the evaluation and interpretation of patient results.
- Review pending logs and result logs; address any outstanding workload or communicate needs to staff.
- Conduct quality control procedures in line with protocols and maintain appropriate documentation.
- Ensure quality control outcomes are within acceptable parameters and take corrective actions when necessary.
- Assist supervisors in fulfilling departmental regulatory agency obligations.
- Operate laboratory equipment correctly and perform routine maintenance as scheduled.
- Exhibit troubleshooting skills to resolve basic equipment issues.
- Assist in monitoring reagent and supply inventories, utilizing them efficiently.
- Engage in ongoing education and professional development relevant to your position.
- Address all issues and critical laboratory specimens/test results following established protocols and in a timely manner.
- Associate Degree in a relevant field is required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology is preferred.
- A valid State of Florida Technologist License is required or the ability to obtain one during the interview process.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a Medical Technologist role is required.
Shifts Available:
Evenings: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM
Nights: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM / 8; 10; 12-hour shifts
Compensation Range: Minimum $27.09 - $32.51 - $37.92
On-Call Compensation: $2
Night Differential: $2.50
Sign-On Bonus: Night Shift - $10,000 / Day Shift - $5,000
