Lead Automation Controls Engineer

Swoon is partnering with a prominent global Medical Equipment Manufacturing firm, presenting opportunities for Lead Automation Controls Engineers specializing in Allen-Bradley systems. Positions are available for both lead and standard level Controls Engineers. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) PLC systems and a robust background in controls within a manufacturing or packaging/loading system context.
Location: On-site role in Marion, NC. (A generous relocation package is available for non-local candidates)
Lead Automation Controls Engineer Salary: $120K-$135K base salary plus an 8% bonus
Responsibilities:
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives
- Perform technical troubleshooting and implement solutions for both existing and new systems
- Assist in the planning, installation, and commissioning of new equipment
- Create and revise project-specific protocols and operational guidelines
- Provide technical support to engineering staff, technicians, and supervisors
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure manufacturing regulatory compliance
- Conduct analysis on facility optimization, process automation, and validation strategies
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience as a Controls/Automation Engineer for Lead Level (3+ years for standard level)
- 7+ years of PLC Allen Bradley experience for Lead Level (3+ years for standard level)
- Strong foundation in lean manufacturing principles
- Familiarity with control changes, QMS Systems, and GMP documentation
- Experience in manufacturing or high-speed automation environments
- BS in Engineering is mandatory
