Nemours Children's Hospital is seeking a dedicated Pediatric RN II - Ambulatory (Orthopedics) to enhance our healthcare team.

Located in Orlando, Florida, Nemours Children's Hospital represents a significant advancement in pediatric healthcare, featuring a state-of-the-art facility designed specifically for children.

Our institution not only provides a 100-bed pediatric hospital but also includes the region's only 24-hour Emergency Department tailored for pediatric patients, along with specialized outpatient clinics.

As a facility created by families for families, we integrate the healing benefits of nature with cutting-edge healthcare practices to offer exceptional care to children across Central Florida and beyond.

In alignment with our mission to extend Nemours care into the communities we serve, we also deliver specialized outpatient services at various clinics throughout the area.


The RN II plays a crucial role in delivering and coordinating nursing care in collaboration with the child, family, and community resources, ensuring that care is tailored to meet the unique needs of each child and family.

The RN II takes into account individual, cultural, ethnic, and religious values when planning and providing evidence-based care, which includes essential education, coordination, continuity of care, and consultation with relevant community resources.

The responsibilities of the RN II encompass program development and management. As a program manager, the RN II oversees the daily operations and administration of the program, which includes managing the program, preparing reports, directing staff, and conducting training and scheduling.

The RN II will coordinate and engage in various administrative and clinical activities pertinent to a specific program or specialty, supervise staff, and establish policies and procedures that align with program objectives.

Occasional travel to satellite locations may be necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and oversees operational activities for assigned programs or specialties, addressing specific operational challenges and issuing directives in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Plans, develops, and implements the goals and objectives of the assigned program in collaboration with the relevant division director or department head.
  • Continuously evaluates program objectives and makes necessary adjustments to meet or revise these goals.
  • Conducts meetings with staff to ensure adherence to established practices and keeps team members informed of current standards.
  • Creates and maintains effective training and orientation programs.
  • Compiles and maintains records, reports, and documentation of program activities for evaluation purposes.
  • Responsible for the care of patients within a specific population.
  • Utilizes the nursing process as a foundation for delivering and assessing nursing care, applying knowledge of growth and development, pathophysiology, and family dynamics.
  • Accurately documents all aspects of nursing care delivery.
  • Provides leadership, education, and support to division nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Assists with phone triage, medication refills, patient communications, and clinical care as required.
Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or currently enrolled in a BSN program with completion expected within 12 months of hire.
  • BCLS Certification is mandatory.
  • Current Florida RN License in good standing is required.
  • A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of nursing experience is necessary, with at least two (2) years of clinical experience preferred in pediatrics.
  • Travel to satellite locations may be required.
Travel Requirements

  • Must be capable of traveling to various satellite locations as needed.
Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, with four 10-hour shifts.
