Job Description

Cetera Financial Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Corporate Tax Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our tax department, you will be responsible for executing federal and state tax returns, tax provisions, and various related tax responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing the federal income tax return, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare separate state tax returns and unitary state tax returns, utilizing your expertise in tax laws and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with Corporate Accounting to gather necessary information for tax return preparation.
  • Prepare income tax work papers for federal and state tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of tax laws, regulations, and industry developments to ensure compliance and minimize tax liabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless tax provision and compliance processes.
  • Perform account analysis and reconciliation of deferred tax and income tax accounts, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Prepare annual reports and franchise tax returns for multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in the maintenance of a tax calendar, ensuring deadlines are met consistently and efficiently.
  • Support the tax provision process, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end analysis, to ensure accurate and compliant tax reporting.
  • Audit support, including gathering work papers for tax auditors and analyzing audit findings to ensure compliance and minimize tax liabilities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • 4-5 years of corporate tax experience, preferably in public accounting or a corporate tax department.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with general ledger and accounting software, as well as tax compliance software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Oracle general ledger software and OneSource provision and compliance software.
