The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Fundraising Intern for the Wisconsin Chapter. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising and event planning while making a meaningful impact in the community.

About the Role:

The Fundraising Intern will play a pivotal role in supporting the success of our chapter's signature fundraising event, the Out of the Darkness Walks. This includes:

  • Sponsorship and donor outreach and recruitment
  • Researching potential sponsorships
  • Corporate team recruitment and onboarding
  • Walker outreach and recruitment
  • Email marketing communication
  • Creating promotional assets (social media graphics, flyers, etc.)
  • Running reports and creating and updating tracking sheets
Responsibilities:

The Fundraising Intern will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing fundraising strategies to support the chapter's goals
  • Building relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners
  • Assisting with event planning and execution, including logistics, marketing, and volunteer management
  • Providing excellent customer service and communication to donors, sponsors, and stakeholders
  • Staying up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in nonprofit fundraising and event planning
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong social media skills and experience with Canva
  • Ability to travel across chapter territory as needed (mileage reimbursement)
  • Detail-oriented and organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
