Position Summary
The External Mortgage Consultant is responsible for providing residential mortgage solutions to clients seeking to acquire property or refinance their current loans. This role requires a significant amount of time spent outside the office to foster client relationships and generate new business opportunities.

- Develop and nurture relationships with real estate agents, builders, title companies, and other relevant entities to drive business growth through effective marketing strategies and community outreach initiatives.
- Assess the financial viability of potential borrowers by reviewing credit histories, income statements, and asset documentation.
- Guide clients through the various loan options available, ensuring they are well-informed about the mortgage process and addressing any inquiries they may have.
- Facilitate the mortgage origination process, including pricing and securing pre-approved loans, while ensuring compliance with disclosure requirements.
- Stay updated on industry standards, agency guidelines, and regulatory requirements at both state and federal levels.
- Proactively follow up on leads, loan applications, and outstanding documentation to meet service-level agreements.
- Communicate regularly with clients and their representatives regarding the status of loan applications.
- Manage the loan production pipeline and address any escalated issues to ensure timely and accurate loan closings.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to enhance client satisfaction.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma is required. Candidates should have a solid understanding of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA, and investor guidelines, as well as knowledge of relevant banking laws and regulations, including TRID, TILA, RESPA, HMDA, FCRA, ECOA, SAFE Act, QM, UDAAP, and Flood Disaster Protection.
Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor's degree along with extensive experience in loan origination is preferred. Candidates should also possess a comprehensive understanding of the aforementioned guidelines and regulations.
Licensing Requirements
Candidates must hold a valid NMLS license.
