Position Summary
The External Mortgage Loan Consultant is responsible for providing residential mortgage solutions to clients seeking to acquire real estate or refinance their current mortgages. This role involves generating leads to enhance production and requires working primarily outside the office environment.
Key Responsibilities

- Builds and nurtures relationships with real estate agents, builders, title firms, and other relevant entities to drive business growth through effective marketing initiatives and community outreach events.
- Evaluates the creditworthiness of potential borrowers by reviewing credit histories, tax documentation, and financial assets.
- Advises clients on suitable loan options and educates them about the mortgage process, addressing any inquiries or concerns they may have.
- Facilitates the mortgage origination process, including pricing and securing pre-approved loan transactions. Ensures timely disclosure of Loan Estimates and other essential documentation.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of agency and investor policies, as well as applicable state and federal regulations.
- Proactively follows up on leads, loan applications, and outstanding documentation, ensuring compliance with service-level agreements.
- Keeps clients and their representatives informed about the progress of loan applications.
- Manages the production pipeline and addresses escalated issues to guarantee timely and accurate loan closings.
- Delivers exceptional customer service to foster client satisfaction.

- Effectively communicating ideas both in writing and verbally in a clear and logical manner.
- Adhering to industry guidelines, regulations, and standards.
- Building strong relationships with both internal and external clients to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Organizing tasks efficiently, prioritizing actions, and anticipating the consequences of decisions.
- Demonstrating proficiency in software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Encompass or similar loan origination systems.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma is required. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA, and relevant investor guidelines, along with state and federal banking laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
A bachelor's degree and extensive experience in loan origination are preferred. Knowledge of the aforementioned guidelines and regulations is essential.
Licensing
Candidates must hold an NMLS license to be eligible for this position.
