Position Summary

The External Mortgage Consultant is responsible for providing residential mortgage solutions to clients seeking to acquire real estate or refinance existing loans. This role involves generating leads to enhance production and requires more than 50% of the work to be conducted outside the office environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Builds and nurtures relationships with real estate agents, builders, title companies, and other related entities to foster business growth through marketing initiatives and promotional activities. Conducts community education workshops for real estate professionals.
  2. Evaluates the creditworthiness of clients by reviewing credit histories, tax documents, and assets.
  3. Advises clients on suitable loan options and guides them through the mortgage process, addressing any inquiries or concerns.
  4. Facilitates the mortgage origination process, including pricing and securing pre-approved loan transactions. Ensures timely disclosure of Loan Estimates and other essential documents.
  5. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of agency and investor guidelines as well as applicable state and federal regulations.
  6. Follows up on leads, loan applications, outstanding items, and conditions, ensuring all submissions meet service-level agreement deadlines.
  7. Keeps clients and their representatives informed about the status of loan applications.
  8. Manages the production pipeline and addresses escalated issues to guarantee timely and accurate loan closings.
  9. Delivers exceptional customer service to ensure client satisfaction.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

A high school diploma is required. A solid understanding of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA, and investor guidelines, along with state and federal banking laws and regulations, is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor's degree and extensive experience in loan origination are preferred. Knowledge of relevant guidelines and regulations is necessary.

Licensing

An NMLS license is required for eligibility.
