About the Role

The Manager of Operational Excellence will be responsible for driving the development and execution of a Continuous Improvement strategy for Roche's Manufacturing Technical Operations (MTO) and Operations team. This key role on the MTO leadership team will be responsible for identifying and deploying best practices in collaboration with technical engineers and leaders to improve the efficiency of the operations support functions and drive Quality, Cost, and Performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Continuous Improvement strategy with MTO and cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and execute training programs in Lean, Six Sigma, and other process efficiency improvement tools.
  • Develop and implement internal Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), identify areas of improvement to meet and exceed performance targets.
  • Work with finance to develop Standard Material Cost (SMC) goals and execute appropriate projects to achieve overall cost savings targets.
  • Work closely with the engineering team to develop and execute Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) targets for various processes and identify areas of improvement.
  • Lead cross-functional teams for high-priority, complex programs to meet strategic targets.
  • Ensure that changes are implemented on-time, within budget, with desired results, and minimize disruptions.
  • Develop and implement a Root Cause Investigation program, conduct root cause investigations, and After Action Reviews for critical issues.
  • Provide an open environment and promote teamwork, act as a catalyst to remove organizational barriers.
  • Help cross-functional teams develop clear Roles and Responsibilities through RACI tools to enable collaboration and accountability.
  • Assist with special projects as requested and perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • Three years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field, or seven years of related experience without a Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience within an FDA-regulated, medical device manufacturing environment is highly desirable.

Work Environment

The essential functions of the job are usually performed in an environmentally controlled facility where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position may involve a combination of office and biotechnology laboratory environments. The employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, blood-borne pathogens, and automated equipment.

While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee may sometimes be required to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
