Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Human Resources Specialist - Payroll to join our team at Middlesex County. The successful candidate will serve as a payroll division point of contact for all County departments, supporting the Office of Human Resources in daily payroll and HR functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Administration: Assist in payroll administration, corrections, reporting, processing child support orders, and ensuring data accuracy for new hires, salary changes, and terminations.
  • Time-Card Audits: Serve as a Workforce Management expert to assist with time-card audits, corrections, and communications with timekeepers/supervisors.
  • Pension Records: Collect and update pension records as required.
  • Longevity Payments: Calculate and manage longevity payments.
  • Car Allowances: Process quarterly car allowances.
  • Workers Compensation: Process Workers Compensation wage statements.
  • Records Management: Oversee records archive management for the Office of Human Resources.
  • Backup Support: Serve as backup to the Primary Payroll Specialist.
Requirements
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate internally and externally with employees, retirees, vendors, and other constituents.
  • Organizational Skills: Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, with the ability to continuously follow up on outstanding items.
  • Proactive and Independent: Be proactive and independent, with the ability to take initiative.
  • Time Management: Possess excellent time management skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to Payroll and Human Resources, proficiency with HRIS and payroll software, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field, and at least two years of experience in Human Resources and/or Payroll administration.
