Your Role

Stantec's office in Tallahassee presents an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer / Project Manager. This region is renowned for its natural beauty and is recognized as one of the premier locations in North Florida. As the state capital and home to major educational institutions, Tallahassee offers a vibrant and affordable community, close to some of Florida's pristine coastlines.

Our Tallahassee office serves a diverse clientele, including municipal entities, architectural firms, developers, and more. It is also a pivotal hub for federal projects, particularly those associated with the US Department of Defense. In this dynamic role, you will engage in a variety of intriguing projects, encompassing site development, municipal utilities, parks, trails, and federal facilities. You will collaborate with a team of skilled professionals who bring extensive expertise across these varied sectors.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a candidate with a robust background in professional practice, project oversight, and business development, who can blend innovative design capabilities with a pragmatic business perspective. Your projects will span private site development, municipal engineering, and federal facilities.

This role demands the ability to oversee substantial projects, engage with clients and governmental bodies, and effectively collaborate with local and regional teams. In this pivotal position, you will:

  • Formulate and execute business development strategies for key clients and strategic initiatives.
  • Enhance and maintain client relationships, playing a crucial role in client management and satisfaction.
  • Participate in local professional organizations and represent Stantec within the community.
  • Lead intricate community development infrastructure projects, emphasizing technical excellence and project delivery.
  • Guide and mentor junior staff and other team members.
  • Plan and oversee projects and tasks to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Contribute significantly to maintaining and enhancing the design reputation of the Community Development team.
Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience with both private and public sector clients/projects, along with a well-established network in the North Florida / Gulf Coast market.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Florida.
  • Successful track record in responding to Requests for Qualifications and Proposals.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, emotional intelligence, and communication skills.
  • Experience in managing junior staff, client relationships, and complex projects.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in Civil Engineering.
Work Environment

This role typically involves an office setting with extended periods of computer use. Fieldwork may involve exposure to various weather conditions.
