Job Summary:

The Residential Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for managing and growing profitable residential lending relationships at Unity Bank. This role involves originating and pre-qualifying mortgage loans, ensuring goals are met, adhering to all applicable policies and procedures, and satisfying customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate self-generated mortgage loans and those referred by Unity Bank referral sources.
  • Evaluate borrowers' financial statuses and provide guidance to assist them in obtaining mortgage financing.
  • Maintain regular contact with borrowers to ensure their needs are met.
  • Assist mortgage operations in obtaining documentation for underwriting and closing of submitted applications.
  • Provide bank personnel and customers with information on current interest rates and new mortgage products.
  • Enhance the financial relationship of the mortgagee by cross-selling Unity Bank products and services where applicable.
  • Develop interpersonal relationships with prospective lead sources such as real estate professionals and prospective borrowers.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • Five years of experience in mortgage lending.
  • Existing book of business.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • NMLS registration.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Thorough knowledge of mortgage laws, federal and state, as well as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac & FHA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of loan origination systems.
  • Knowledge of market trends in the mortgage industry.
  • Ability to ascertain customer needs and advise on appropriate products and services.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret legal documents, governmental regulations, and professional publications.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from senior management, attorneys, vendors, government agents, and the general public.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Working Conditions:

  • Moderate sound as in a business office with office machines, computers, and people traffic.
  • Potential work in very loud areas while traveling, such as road construction sites.
  • Travel up to 70% of working hours.
