Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Student Health team at Samuel Merritt University. As a Medical Assistant, you will provide exceptional patient care and administrative support to our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical and administrative support to the Student Health Center, including greeting patients, preparing examination rooms, and obtaining vital signs.
  • Assist clinicians with physical examinations, administer vaccines, and perform other clinical duties as needed.
  • Document patient information accurately and efficiently, using medical terminology and electronic health records.
  • Manage student health records, including data entry, data collection, and maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff, providing exceptional customer service and maintaining a professional office atmosphere.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including answering phones, filing, faxing, emailing, and scheduling appointments.
  • Collaborate with the Student Health Coordinator to process invoices, check requests, and record payments.
  • Assist with ordering and maintaining medical and office supplies, and ensure the operation of office equipment.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, Associate's degree required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare facility preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and electronic health records.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in a professional manner.
Working Conditions

The physical demands of this position include sitting for long periods, moving about the office and campus, and performing deskwork. The ability to lift 20 pounds and move office files, supplies, and equipment is also required.
