Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Environmental Program Manager, the Senior Environmental Scientist performs professional scientific analyses and fieldwork associated with the appropriate use of pesticides. This role applies scientific methods and principles to conduct complex environmental investigations, research, and studies to ensure compliance with toxic and hazardous pesticide restrictions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct scientific research and analysis to identify and mitigate environmental risks associated with pesticide use.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with pesticide regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to provide technical expertise and support for pesticide-related projects.
  • Develop and maintain databases and records related to pesticide use and environmental impact.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to staff on pesticide-related topics.
Working Conditions

The incumbent works in a single-floor building under artificial lighting. Fieldwork requires the ability to lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds, bend, squat, and climb over boxes, containers, or pallets. Travel by automobile or air is required to different areas of the state. Fieldwork involves working in outdoor conditions and maneuvering over uneven ground.
