About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Electrical Engineer to join our team at Shive-Hattery's Cedar Rapids office. As a key member of our electrical design team, you will be responsible for leading the design and production efforts of building projects, working closely with clients, and collaborating with other disciplines to deliver high-quality electrical design services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design electrical systems for industrial facilities, including power distribution, LED and custom lighting design, Life Safety Systems, and data/communications.
  • Lead the electrical design and production efforts of building projects, ensuring timely, professional, and accurate production of design documents and technical drawings.
  • Interact with clients to understand project requirements and provide expert electrical design solutions.
  • Work independently and collaborate with other electrical team members to achieve project goals.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers and designers in the design and production efforts.
  • Prepare specifications and perform code research to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Visit project sites to gather information about existing conditions and conduct construction observation duties.
  • Manage time and workload effectively, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering school or a degree in Architectural Engineering with an electrical engineering emphasis.
  • Active Professional Engineering license or the ability to obtain one within a year.
  • Experience in the design of lighting, power, and low-voltage systems for buildings and sites.
  • Experience with 3D modeling, preferably using Revit.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and team members.
