Job Description

At YMCA Southcoast, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Wellness Center Fitness Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our Wellness Center team, you will be responsible for leading, supervising, and instructing members and guests in the use of Wellness Center equipment and techniques to improve and/or maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Orient members and guests to the use and purpose of available equipment.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques and communicate expected results for each exercise and equipment use.
  • Communicate key building blocks in exercise routines, including cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility.
  • Maintain records and accounts of front desk membership and program sales.
  • Maintain the area for cleanliness and identify and report all potential safety hazards.
  • Generate personalized exercise programs and workout cards for each participant.
  • Identify and incorporate new fitness procedures and trends.
  • Assist in the communication of Wellness Center new classes, programs, and activities.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of exercise training techniques and principles, including cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility exercises.
  • Physically able to conduct and demonstrate exercise routines and equipment use.
  • Ability to interact and instruct individuals of a wide range of age and ability.
  • National certifications in ACE, AFFA, ACSM highly desirable.
Working Conditions:

Hours will be 4:45-9am on Tuesday and Thursday, 4:30-8p on Thursday, with the possibility of additional shifts.
