Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Food Clerk to join our team at McMurdo Station. As a Food Clerk, you will be responsible for managing the receipt, storage, and issuance of food and supplies to customers. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring the safety of food storage areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the receipt, storage, and issuance of food and supplies to customers
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using the Maximo system
  • Ensure the safety of food storage areas
  • Provide excellent customer service to supported departments
  • Communicate effectively with customers and department management
  • Perform tasks in a safe manner
  • Learn and implement warehouse-operating procedures
  • Accomplish assigned tasking directed verbally or per task list provided by management
  • Coordinate work center food deliveries, military, and party requests
  • Maintain kitchen storage areas and delivery dock in a clean and organized manner
  • Research and issue supplies to customers
  • Properly and accurately document issues and returns of supplies
  • Rotate all stock according to the 'First In, First Out' method of stock rotation
  • Maintain Maximo stock records to maintain accurate inventory records of stock levels and locations
  • Conduct inventories and audits of supplies
  • Track weekly deliveries and prepare required weekly reports
  • Develop recommended task list for following season
  • Write the End of Season report for kitchen storage activity
  • Prepare identified supplies and cargo for retrograde shipment
  • Responsible for the correct storage and special handling of all cargo upon receipt
  • Be familiar with hazardous cargo and hazardous waste regulations and shipping requirements
  • Be familiar with vessel offload procedures and distribution procedures of materials
  • Work any shift in a 24 hour period during vessel offload or during other special operations
  • Handle confidential matters, personnel actions, management reports, etc., in accordance with management policy
  • Conduct required preventative maintenance of assigned equipment
  • Report all safety hazards and incidents to Food Service Supervisor or Culinary Manager
  • Perform duties in support of food service metrics (as provided by the Food Service Supervisor and/or Culinary Manager)
  • Support the achievement of ASC metrics, whether they can be directly or indirectly, effected by your activities
  • Comply with all ASC Environmental Health & Safety, and Quality Assurance, requirements, and goals
  • Provide documentation to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation
  • Work to achieve ASC goals and contractual commitments
  • Able to lift the safety regulation maximum from ground level to waist high
  • Be able to lift the safety regulation maximum over head
  • Be able to work indoors or outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace
Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED
  • Current ServSafe Food Handler certificate must be obtained prior to deployment to Antarctica
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Valid U.S. Passport
  • One year experience in materials administration, to include inventory management, issuing, receiving, and warehousing in a food service or food warehousing environment required
  • Previous experience with Station Services in Antarctica may be accepted in lieu of minimum experience
  • US citizenship or permanent residency required
