We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Pharmacist to join our team at Augusta Health. As a key member of our Inpatient Pharmacy team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective management of medications for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Medication Management: Evaluate, prepare, and dispense medications in accordance with professional standards, facility procedures, and legal requirements.
- Supervision: Supervise pharmacy technicians, technician trainees, and pharmacist interns, monitoring workflow and workload, and ensuring accuracy and quality of medication preparation and dispensing.
- Controlled Substances: Oversee the distribution and handling of controlled substances, including record keeping, documentation, accuracy, and resolution of medication discrepancies.
- Pharmacy Automation: Assist in the maintenance and optimization of pharmacy automation and other software technologies.
- Medication Therapy: Review medication orders for completeness, accuracy, and legality, and identify medication therapy problems in patient medication regimens.
- Drug Information: Provide reliable drug information to healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers.
- Performance Improvement: Participate in performance improvement activities, including monitoring, prevention, reporting, and coordination of adverse drug events, drug interactions, and medication errors.
- Licensure: Licensed as a Pharmacist by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Skills: Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
