The State of Maryland is seeking a highly skilled Wage and Hour Investigator II to join our team in the Division of Labor and Industry. As a key member of our enforcement team, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with Maryland's protective labor and employment laws.
Key Responsibilities- Enforce and increase voluntary compliance with Maryland's protective labor and employment laws.
- Investigate labor practices of work providers and identify situations where individuals are being misclassified as independent contractors.
- Review and analyze data to identify trends and patterns in non-compliance.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve compliance and prevent non-compliance.
- Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to share best practices and coordinate enforcement efforts.
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
- Four years of general investigative work, with two years of experience involving investigations for compliance to laws and regulations governing wages and/or employment practices.
- Ability to speak and write fluent Spanish is preferred.
- Experience in governing wages or employment practices in human resources or investigations or management, non-payment of wages, and/or pay equity is preferred.
