Job Overview

Position: Software Engineer II/III

Location: Remote

Position Summary:

The Software Engineer II/III will deliver high-level software operation and maintenance assistance for the Air Force's metrology, ground support equipment, tools, and industrial plant equipment sectors. This software functions as a comprehensive tracking and control system for facility and equipment upkeep, calibration of precision measurement tools, and management of tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, J2EE, JSP, Jython, Python, Perl, PL/SQL, HTML, XML, and Maximo to provide technical systems support.
  • Engages with end users to design and implement solutions tailored to their requirements.
  • Develops user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing interfaces for interaction with complex hardware.
  • Establishes business logic to manage data from hardware and user inputs.
  • Drafts comprehensive specifications and documentation for software program evaluation and development.
  • Participates in technical discussions, design sessions, and unit testing activities.
  • Applies industry-standard software development practices to identify needs and create solutions.
  • Implements quality control measures to uphold established software development standards.
  • Encourages a collaborative, team-oriented environment, sharing best practices while fostering positive relationships.
  • Actively engages in Scrum ceremonies to maintain a well-organized backlog of Epics, Stories, Bugs, and Defects, promoting continuous team development and improvement.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant programming and development experience; candidates with less experience may be considered if they demonstrate proficiency in developing Java-based applications.
  • Intermediate to advanced expertise in the Maximo application.
  • Strong understanding of coding methodologies.
  • Experience with Oracle Databases and proficiency in PL/SQL.
  • Self-motivated with the capability to manage tasks independently.
  • Ability to foresee potential challenges and take proactive measures to mitigate their effects.
  • Proven experience in implementing agile development methodologies, tools, and processes in a professional setting.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Prior experience transitioning an on-premises solution to the Azure Cloud.
  • Experience working in a customer-focused environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma with 9 years of IT experience
  • Associate's degree with 7 years of IT experience
  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of IT experience

Job Requirements:

  • Must maintain DOD 8570 required certification, CompTIA Security+ or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
