POSITION SUMMARY

The role of Product Line Strategist encompasses the comprehensive management of product development for CamelBak. This position involves collaboration with Category Managers on global product planning, deep understanding of product segmentation, oversight of product milestone meetings, management of profit margins, and coordination of sample procurement while ensuring the integrity of all Centric PLM systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Product Development: Formulate and implement a robust product strategy for designated product lines, taking into account market trends, consumer demands, and competitive landscape. Establish product roadmaps and prioritize features based on market insights and organizational objectives. Utilize expertise in product development to enhance perceived value through material selection, design details, and construction techniques while adhering to margin expectations.
  • Lifecycle Management: Collaborate with product development teams to facilitate the successful introduction and rollout of new products within the assigned line. Oversee the entire product lifecycle, utilizing data-driven insights to inform product enhancements, updates, and discontinuations. Manage the product creation timeline through critical seasonal milestones including Kick Off, Brief Finalization, Concept Design Review, Final Line Adoption, and Sales Meeting.
  • Market Research and Consumer Insights: Conduct thorough market analysis and gather customer feedback to pinpoint opportunities and address deficiencies within the product line. Maintain a keen understanding of customer preferences and challenges to develop solutions that resonate with target audiences.
  • Competitive Landscape Monitoring: Evaluate and assess competitor offerings within the same product category. Identify unique selling propositions and develop strategies to sustain a competitive edge.
  • Pricing Strategy and Profit Management: Partner with finance and sales teams to establish pricing frameworks that ensure profitability while remaining competitive. Continuously monitor product line profitability and implement strategies to optimize revenue and margins.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work alongside various teams to ensure smooth product development and successful launches. Engage with regional brand managers and sales leads during the briefing process to align product offerings with both regional and global needs. Collaborate with category leaders to create a cohesive global product line strategy.
  • Merchandising Excellence: Stay updated on merchandising best practices to effectively segment and assort the product line, catering to specific regional and channel requirements.
  • Performance Metrics and Reporting: Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success of the product line. Regularly communicate product performance and metrics to senior leadership, ensuring data accuracy within the Centric PLM system.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in product development or merchandising.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, merchandising, marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with proven leadership capabilities.
  • Knowledgeable in fashion trends, materials, and color theory.
  • Analytical mindset with strong business acumen and proficiency in data analysis.
